Abstract

The Economist, one of the most influential news magazines in the English language, has been a careful follower of progress in artificial intelligence. They regularly publish articles summarizing material published in the SIGART Bulletin and elsewhere. I was therefore interested to note that their August 1st issue includes an editorial criticizing the Turing Test and its role as a measure of artificial intelligence.
