Abstract

The implementation of the Computer Graphics Metafile (CGM) at McDonnell Douglas Corporation is described. It was implemented to answer the need for a single computer graphics metafile format as part of an integrated information interchange infrastructure that would integrate the creation and delivery of technical information in the corporation. The CGM enables the interchange of computer documents in a heterogeneous computer environment. The relationship of the CGM to the interchange of electronic compound documents is discussed.
