Abstract

This paper describes the attempt and resulting experience of using of a high-definition digital cinema system in producing a next generation imaging system. Paintings of Ito Jakuchu were used as prototypes to produce the desired content, depicting an immersive virtual environment that allows people to enter the paintings; and that by using this method it creates boundless possibilities for new applications of artwork and different ways to study them. Collaborative studies will also be possible among various fields such as art, psychology, and cognitive science. Larger than life displays to analyze and understand cultural properties and art works could be fully realized.
