Abstract

The following work describes in the field of neuroendoscopy the possibilities offered by active endoscopes equipped with augmented reality features and able to perform quantitative measurements. In the NEAR project, a practical implementation targeted towards endoscopic third ventriculostomy (ETV) and realized with standard optical systems and endoscopes is used as an example to discuss the limits and the possibilities offered by computer vision and navigations techniques.
