Due to the rapidly changing topology of Vehicular Ad Hoc network (VANET), it requires the routing protocol can be able to find out comparatively more stable routes. But the routing protocols in existence are not taking the distinguishing features of vehicles and roadway into consideration, and this brought about challenges to these routing protocols’ applicability in VANET. In this paper, we take the characteristics of VANET into account, and using the method of fuzzy logic and fuzzy control to make routing decision under multiple selection criteria, then we developed a new routing protocol based on the classical AODV which name is Fcar(Fuzzy control based AODV routing). Simulations have been carried out comparing AODV and Fcar, the results indicate that Fcar is superior to AODV in several aspects, so Fcar shows its adaptability in VANET.
