Abstract

WSN have been studied with the typical application of periodic monitoring, and lots researches have been developed based on that to promote the network performance and consummate user requirements. For increasing data granularity, reducing data redundancy and delivering sensor readings to users in a timely manner, this paper improves the wireless token-ring MAC protocol (TR-MAC) and proposes a new MAC protocol named DF-MAC for data filterable function in WSN. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first effort which exploits data filtration in WSN on the MAC layer. Simulation results demonstrate that DF-MAC protocol can solve the data selective uploading effectively, and outperform TR-MAC with delay and throughput betterments.
