Abstract

This research was focused on wireless communication mobile robots based on a combination of embedded computing, machine vision, wireless communications, GPS, and RFID technologies. Communication can be provided through satellite, circuit-switch cellular, digital wireless communication links or a combination of these methods. The developed mobile robots can perform search-and-rescue tasks in three-dimensional space with independent path layout and one can communication with each other by designed wireless devices. Some human identification algorithms were adopted and proved to be effective in search and rescue mission. Actual results indicate that the developed robots have ability to complete the search mission.
