An important aspect of any reliable communications protocol is its robustness against adverse network conditions. This paper presents a stochastic model for predicting the overhead introduced by the error handling algorithms of the JRM-protocol for various levels of network degeneration. To validate the model, a series of experiments were conducted. This paper compares those experiments with the predictions of the model.
