This position paper explores the practices and challenges of distributed requirements gathering through case studies taken from the telecommunications, gaming, and factory automation domains. The social organization of the participants, their formal and informal collaborations, and adoption of relevant tools are modeled as requirementsgathering collaborative networks. The study identifies specific problems and challenges that were observed in the three case studies.
