Abstract

A novel power supply independent architecture is proposed for ring oscillators. The proposed architecture exploits the advantages of the state- of- arts like isolation and self-biasing techniques. In the proposed architecture the stages of oscillator are not the same and each stage is designed to implement one of the above techniques. Many experiments were performed to evaluate the proposed architecture and compare it to the last competitive architectures. The proposed architecture was simulated in 0.5µm CMOS technology where the power supply were changed from 4V to 6V resulting in only 1% deviation in frequency in the worst case; a record better than all previous architectures.
