It is a very essential problem that because the number of Web pages and other documents in Internet has grown so fast, it is harder and harder for users to find relevant information. In this paper an approach to agent-based information retrieval systems using personalization is proposed. We present tree-based user profile that contains weighted concepts connected by "is-a" relations based on WordNet ontology. Each concept is marked by timestamp which is used to the profile update procedure.
