This paper presents a multi-agent system featuring secure communication in e-commerce environments. We describe two strategies of meeting security constraints: one method achieves authentication of the business entities over SSL, while the other method addresses authentication and privacy concerns by using public keys to certify the identity of parties, and encryption of messages to protect the confidentiality of exchanged information.
