This paper presents an agent-based hierarchical model for electronic commerce. We advance our research in two possible directions that we propose for e-commerce environments, the Single Perspective Hierarchy and the Multi-Perspective Hierarchy models for resource discovery. We study their comparative performance with respect to traffic overhead and time efficiency. Our approach uses logarithmic search techniques, thus providing improved behavior in comparison with traditional linear methods used for resource discovery in distributed settings.
