Abstract

This paper describes how to generate multiple reflections on a semi-cylindrical mirror. For rendering multiple reflections, ray tracing is used, however, it takes time for complex objects [Wald et al. 2006]. On the other hand, polygon based rendering is much faster and it can render them in real time even for complex objects constructed with many polygons. Reflection images can be generated by combining real objects and virtual objects corresponding to the real ones [Ofek and Rappoport 1998]. There are some researches related to reflections, however, the reflective object is basically convex and the previous works did not describe how to generate multiple images that are reflected on a concave mirror. Therefore, in this paper, we describe how to generate multiple reflections on a semi-cylindrical mirror with analytical method. This method is useful because there are many cylindrical mirrors in towns such as see-through elevators or the frame of rotational doors.
