Abstract

Multitouch tables are known to be well suited to small groups collaboration. However, as soon as several people stand on different sides of the table, their viewpoints on the content differ, which is especially disturbing when 3D perspective projection is used. To offer a collaborative platform combining both the strenghts of collaborative tactile interaction and 3D immersive visualization, we developed a multitouch table that provides a stereo head-tracked immersive multiview 3D visualization to two users. This helps to give access to 3D visualization on tabletops, but also gave rise to many issues, such as parallax management or 3D stereo and real hands depth conflicts, to which we tried to propose rough initial solutions we are demonstrating here in the scope of ITS 2010.
