Abstract

Since flash memory has useful characteristics, it has been used in a variety of areas recently. However, it has a critical weakness known as "erase before write". Because of this feature, systems using flash memory have experienced serious performance degradation. Many efforts have been made to solve this problem, focusing on a number of Flash Translation Layers (FTL). In this paper, we propose a log buffer-based management scheme incorporating a new method using distribution that many update data are separated to log blocks without least recently used (LRU) policy. This scheme is to decrease the degree of association of log blocks associated with data blocks. And also, we propose a log block state in order to achieve fast access to log blocks.
