An analysis is given of the specific points of the noise power gain of the p-lag median hybrid FIR filters in applications to ultrasound image processing. An important feature of such a gain is that, at some cross points, it converges to the reduced degree one. The effect of smoothing is evaluated in terms of the signal-to-noise ratio and root mean square error metrics. We show that image enhancing has the best appearance if the FIR smoother degree and p are both optimized.
