Abstract

Sharing digital data becomes crucial in human-human interaction. It involves many disciplines such as scientific research, business management, government policies and even personal affairs. Various data types are shared among various parties. Such data ranging from primitive to complex state can be located at many platforms. The platform that interactively correlated can be of homogeneous or heterogeneous types. Upon controlling data sharing, issues such as ownership, data proprietary, policies, disclosure, confidentiality and security should be raised and discussed in details. In this paper, the organization, platform and issues regarding data sharing are reviewed and highlighted to investigate the common factors that constitute to the heterogeneous networked environments. Based on the common factors, future research will include mechanisms to support flexible data sharing in diverse computational platforms.
