In order to make 3D anatomical models, a method that reconstructs geometric models from contour lines on 2D slices is commonly used. We can obtain a set of contours by acquiring CT or MR images and segmenting them. Previous methods divide entire contour line into simple matching regions and clefts. Since long processing time is required for clefts, performance might be degraded when manipulating complex structures. We propose a fast reconstruction method, which generates a triangle strip with single tiling operation for simple region that does not contain branches. If there are branches in contour lines, it partitions the contour lines into several sub-contours by considering the number of vertices and their spatial distribution. We implemented a human anatomical model reconstruction system by applying our method.
