Abstract

A brief review on allometric scaling in biology is given. Dueling theories aim at explaining the mystery of how an animal's metabolic rate is related to its size, but no convincing result is so far obtained, so the allometric scaling in biology still keeps an intriguing and enduring problem. The contention throughout this body of literature focuses on the arguments for and against the Rubner law or Kleiber law.
