Massively Multiplayer Online Games (MMOGs) are characterized by the interaction between a virtual world and an ever-changing worldwide stream of players. Most of them require virtual worlds, significant hardware requirements (e.g., servers and bandwidth), and dedicated support staff. Despite the efforts of developers, users often suffer from overpopulation, lag, and poor support as problems of games. In this paper, a new dynamic hierarchical map partition method for MMORPG based on Virtual Map Information is proposed. This method tries to divide map based on Virtual Map Layer (VML). In order to adapt to dynamic change of population, managers divide or merge fields with the hierarchy of VML. By the simple modification to VML, we can easily manage problems that come from changes of map data (e.g., addition, deletion, and modification of zone), changes of resources, or changes of users' behavior pattern.
