In this paper, we present an image sequence augmentation that easily estimates camera parameters using a planar structure visible in an image sequence and superimposes 3D virtual objects on it. After constructing a virtual 3D model plane from the planar structure, we compute camera parameters recursively using the image of the absolute conic. Experimental results using simulated data and real data confirm that the proposed method is of clearly superior quality compared to that of traditional methods and performs better than existing ones. Our approach does not require any a priori information about the camera being used and metric coordinates in the scene. And the planar structure greatly simplifies the coordinate-system alignment problem, so the proposed method can easily be applied to cases where there is a planar surface visible somewhere in an image sequence and highest accuracy is not demanded.
