Significant advances in the development of agent technology have spurred the development of agent-oriented information systems (AOIS). Nonetheless, accounts on the benefits and shortcomings of state-of-the-art agent technology when employed for the deployment of AOIS for electronic commerce are scant. The purpose of this work is to report on a case study that attempts to shedd some light on this matter.
