Abstract

Image enhancement with various image filters might be better than that with a single filter, but it is very difficult to find a set of appropriate filters. In this paper, we propose a novel method that uses the genetic algorithm to find a filter set for reducing impulsive noises in images. The proposed method has been verified with benchmark images in image enhancement. Moreover, it does not require any expert knowledge to find the type and order of filters for a given domain, so it can be easily applied to other applications of image processing.
