Abstract

A number of applications in many fields, including virtual reality, digital archiving, etc., now require the capturing of large fields of view (FOV) and high-resolution images. Recently, rotating line cameras have been used for high-resolution and wide field of view panorama imaging. Some are equipped with a fish-eye lens and can observe a full spherical panorama image. We proposed a calibration method for rotating line cameras, using a spherical imaging model for the application of a full spherical panorama image. For the calibration, the proposed method uses 3D line segments that variously exist in man-made environments.
