With today's developments in device miniaturization, wireless networking, such as PCs, PDAs, Cell phones, RFID tags and so on, we are facing great opportunities and challenges to realize the ubiquitous computing vision. In this paper, we first identify the key characteristics of ubiquitous computing systems; then argue that agents and agent networks are the right metaphor for managing the dynamism and complexity of system integration and on demand interactions in ubiquitous computing systems.
