Abstract

At present, many researches have been done on the handwriting using static or dynamic signals, but no tools could acquire all handwriting information including kinematics and kinetics of pen-point, including strokes of pen-up and pen-down, velocity and acceleration of pen-tip, three dimension forces of pen-plate contacting point and shape of character etc. We have been designing a force sensitive tablet (F-Tablet), which is capable of capturing both the dynamic hand writing forces information and the static trajectory of the writing pen-tip With the core part of the multi-dimension force/torque sensor, the F-Tablet can capture the two torques and three forces directly and simultaneously With the specially designed structure, some other dynamic and static information, such as stroke, velocity, acceleration etc., can also be calculated from above data Pen-like tools is used to write on the tablet, that means no ink is needed and no special designing is necessary The tablet can also be used as an input device for computers or as a development tool for children to improve handwriting skills As more information about the writers handwriting can be got by F-Tablet, it may be a choice of signature identification/verification input device for person recongnition.
