Abstract

In this paper, the authors have presented a robust watermarking scheme which employs both the Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) and the Singular Value Decomposition (SVD). The proposed scheme starts with transformation of an original grayscale cover image into a transformed image using block based DCT. From each transformed block, the middle band DCT coefficients are selected to form a reduced transformed image and then the watermark is embedded into the constructed reduced transformed image after a suitable SVD operation. Insertion of the watermark into the DCT-based transformed image reveals that the proposed scheme conserve robustness against JPEG compression. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme is reasonably imperceptible and is able to resist a variety of image processing attacks/operations like image enhancement, image noising, cropping operation, JPEG compression etc.
