There exists an on-going challenge facing academic institutions to design appropriate experiences and measures to ensure that all graduates have the necessary information and technology skills. In this paper we outline the effort of the computer information sciences department at our institution in meeting this challenge. We review literature on this topic and identify what other universities and colleges have implemented. We then detail the learning outcomes and the assessment rubrics of a new course we propose. Finally, we discuss future work and challenges the new course faces.
