Teaching in special education (SPED) schools requires a very different approach compared to teaching in mainstream schools. The diversity and atypical behavior of special needs children require developmentally appropriate approach customized for effectiveness and meaningfulness in intervention and teaching. This SPED teaching approach, known as psychogogy, embraces three main interacting components: diagnostics, dialogue and didactic that are triangulated to create the Triple-D framework for application in special education. Within this framework is the Lesson Study, a collaborative approach originated from Japan, that promotes mutual collaborative learning of research lessons of SPED teachers. In this paper, the authors introduced the application of iPad by harnessing its potential for Lesson Study within the Triple-D framework so as to empower special education teachers to develop deeper insights and appreciation of research lessons.
