Abstract

This paper describes the experiences from two week-long service learning trips to Cap-Haitien, Haiti where a small group of computing students, faculty, and volunteers engaged young women from nearby underprivileged villages in computational thinking. Students recognized some of the barriers that must be overcome for a technological transformation of schools and communities in Haiti. Overall, these participating students reported an increased inspiration for computing and higher levels of leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
