Abstract

As more health-care providers adopt and utilise information technology in the treatment of there patients, so the number of system failures increases. Analysis of these failures shows us that these systems are failing for a variety of technical and social reason. The question that we are forced to ask is Why? In this paper I seek to highlight some of the problems that are currently facing developers and users of medical computing systems.
