Abstract

A challenging aspect of computer science curriculum is to present the ever growing and ever changing topics of computer science within the time constraints imposed by the program of study. In this paper we present some of these challenges and outline strategies to meet them with regard to the computer science subject area of Algorithms and Complexity in the context of evolving needs of CS1 and CS2 courses. Specifically, we consider those knowledge units recommended for this area by the IEEE/ACM Joint Task Force on computing curricula in their CC2001 report [CC00].
