Abstract

This paper uses an information ecology metaphor to examine the performance of publications management tasks. The author applies an ecological perspective focusing on the humans, tools, values, and objectives involved in publications activities to three case studies. These case studies provide insight into the development, integration, and remediation of information ecologies. The author contends that applying an ecological perspective will help facilitate successful completion of publications tasks and improve the effectiveness of resulting documentation.
