Abstract

From the Publisher:Research in Computer Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW) has been progressing in academia for some time, feeding directly into the development of commercially-available groupware systems. At first limited to email and shared databases running on local area networks, recent advances in groupware technology have led to the development of sophisticated applications aimed specifically at the commercial user, ranging from workflow management systems to video conferencing. Now, as the availability of affordable systems is growing, so is the need for users and organisations to determine their requirements for future systems, and to evaluate how well available systems meet their needs. CSCW Requirements and Evaluation covers these and other important issues, providing both practical and academic perspectives on requirements and evaluation. It describes a variety of methods and approaches, based on specific case studies, and includes contributions from leading authorities in the field. Overall this volume provides invaluable reading for researchers and practitioners involved in CSCW, groupware development, information systems design, user-interface design, and organisational research.
