The mixed representation of a rational curve describes this geometrical shape as the envelope of a set of tangents given in a parametric form. This representation is naturally related to dual description of curves. The mixed description yields an efficient geometric tool for the design of rational curves with rational offset curves. It leads to remarkably simple results.
