Access Network Life-cycle Costs

The cost analysis associated with the successful introduction of any new technology into BT‘s network is crucially important. This is particularly true of the access network where each individual customer requires dedicated physical connectivity. This paper details the importance of access network cost analysis by considering a life-cycle model. The holistic approach of life-cycle costs is promoted, indicating some of the principles and methods that can be adopted.The paper endeavours to give a flavour of some of the access network cost modelling that has been performed by BT indicating the benefit and relationship with regard to the design and implementation life cycle of the access network.
