Allen‘s interval algebra has recently been under serioustheoretical investigation for the purpose of identifying interestingsub-algebras within it. In this paper we have explored two mutuallyexclusive sub-algebras of Allen‘s interval algebra, which bearsome physical significance. One of them is attached to the causalaspect of the temporal information, while the other one is relatedto simple containment of temporal relations. We are currentlydeveloping some algorithms for checking consistency by isolatingthese subsets from a given temporal constraint network. In thispaper we have proposed such an algorithm and have discussed thesignificance of the availability of these two sub-algebras.
