Abstract

The visual interactive desktop laboratory allows users to visualize on a workstation the results of large-scale simulations performed on remote supercomputers and to interactively steer a simulation as the experiment progresses. Unlike conventional methods, the VIDL requires minimal data transfer and storage and uses a general, flexible environment rather than one specific to a subject or to certain hardware.
