This implemented software environment combines the activities of data set segmentation with visualization. This environment both visually and computationally immerses the user, providing for intuitive exploration of volumetric data sets. By deemphasizing the technical process of visualization, this environment removes barriers to exploring large volumetric data sets and expands the audience of potential users. This is especially significant in an educational setting where learning results directly from exploration.
