Object orientation has become a popular catchphrase, yet its benefits are difficult to obtain. The author studied seven OO development teams, mapped the difficulties they encountered, and identified the best current practices. He found that the teams used one of three basic architectures. Here he explores the advantages and disadvantages of each with regard to connecting databases, applications, and screen objects.
