In this paper, we proposes a Call Admission Control (CAC) scheme to support the burst handover calls occurring due to the movement of a mobile base station (MBS) and mobile nodes in a wireless ad hoc network. The proposed scheme is a dynamic guard channel scheme that adapts the number of guard channels in each MBS coverage area according to the current estimate of the potential handover call rate derived from the number of ongoing calls within the coverage of an MBS before it initiates a flow handover. The parameters used include the new call blocking probability, handover call blocking probability, and resource utilization when an MBS initiates a flow handover in a wireless ad hoc network. Simulation studies are performed to compare the proposed scheme with other CAC schemes.
