Abstract

Recent requirements and evolution of personal communications systems will tend to increase the number of applications that will run over the same hardware/software. While an option is providing this platform with all the algorithms needed, a more suitable one is providing such a platform with the capacity to evolve, along time, from one function to another. Here we present a hardware platform with self reconfiguration abilities depending on system demand. The reconfiguration can be partial or complete within a short time to cope with the current application. This capability has an important effect on the software radio techniques applied to terminals and base stations as it will add extra value through a quick support to new standards and the incorporation of new software-designed applications.
