The implementation issues and results of a technique named Switch Time Warp (STW) for improving Optimistic Parallel Discrete Event Simulation (PDES) in PVM environments. The STW mechanism is used for limiting the optimism of the Time Warp method. The idea of the STW consists of attempting to adapt the execution speeds of the different LP dynamically in order to minimise the number of rollbacks, and as a consequence, reducing the simulation time. The proposed method achieves significant time/performance improvements for rollback reduction in PDES.
