Abstract

Training in some contexts has become a quasi-information systems department. A multi-case study highlights this link by investigating the organizational context, technology deployment strategy, and staffing strategy of four organizational training units. The argument is made that this environment provides a potential career path for new and experienced information systems professionals. Strategic decision-making regarding technology-supported learning is discussed and issues for future information systems research are enumerated.
