Abstract

Parallel computing can be taught at a small college given a well-planned approach and utilizing easily obtained tools. Parallel computing is defined as a combination of parallel architecture and parallel programming and is one of the few hardware/software continuums. The course hardware is a cluster of workstations that can be adapted for use from most CS labs. Most of the software used in the course is based in cooperative learning, group activities which lend themselves to the experimental nature of the topic.
