This chapter describes visualization methods. It describes their relationship both to scientific visualization and to statistical graphics. The use of visualization for knowledge discovery in databases (KDD) is described with attention to large databases, textual analysis, networks, time-based data, highly multivariate data, and usage by domain experts. Visualization methods are proposed as an aid both in pre- and postmodeling.
