Abstract

We describe a state transition model to build a business process using World-Wide Web as the user interface. A process is modeled as a collection of states with each task represented by one state and several types of transition between states. The workflow model proposed here allows the users to execute tasks concurrently, thus reducing overall execution time. The design of the system to support integrated workflow and implementation issues using ODBC and WWW are discussed in the paper. This system allows users to collaborate on a job in distributed environment.
