Abstract

This paper presents an approach to the specificationof visual language syntax. Based on attributed graphsas the notion of abstract syntax, syntactical correctnessis specified by a set of predicates over that structure. The proposed technique facilitates the natural embedding of other visual and textual notations, the definitionof complex syntactic and static-semantic properties, aswell as precise error diagnosis and localization. Anediting environment supporting this technique is brieflydiscussed.
