The conceptual modeling of business processes is becoming popular. The number of techniques and tools is growing fast. At the same time, an appropriate framework for understanding the quality of these modeling techniques is lacking. In this paper we report upon the development of a framework for understanding the quality of business process modeling techniques, called the Q-ME framework. The framework defines the elements that constitute a modeling technique and presents a number of quality properties as well as ways to operationalise them. In this paper, the framework is applied to illustrate the quality of the Dynamic Essential Modeling of Organizations (DEMO) business modeling technique. Conclusions are drawn both on the quality of DEMO and on the application of the framework to study DEMO
